Fault-induced polytypism in (Cr, Fe)2B

چکیده
The microstructures of chromium and iron borides formed during laser surface alloying of AISI 1045 steel with CrB were examined by transmission electron microscopy combined with selected-area electron diffraction and X-ray-dispersive spectroscopy. It was found that the heavily faulted (Cr, Fe)2B phase contains a microsyntactic existence of several polytypes, including one-dimensionally disordered structures as well as fully developed lamellae of ordered polytypes, similar to those found in Sic. Classification of (Cr, Fe)2B as a polytype was made for the first time and is described in detail. It was found that in this case polytypism originates from the (Fe, Cr)2B -+ (Cr, Fe)2B transformation in the solid state by the introduction of stacking faults in the (Fe, Cr)2B phase, owing to a close similarity between the structures of both phases. This transformation is directly responsible for the mentioned microsyntaxy and was experimentally observed through transmission electron microscopy. Q

Quercetin inhibits Cr(VI)-induced malignant cell transformation by targeting miR-21-PDCD4 signaling pathway
Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] is an important human carcinogen associated with pulmonary diseases and lung cancer. Inhibition of Cr(VI)-induced carcinogenesis by a dietary antioxidant is a novel approach. Quercetin is one of the most abundant dietary flavonoids widely present in many fruits and vegetables, possesses potent antioxidant and anticancer properties. MicroRNA-21 (miR-21) is a key onco...

Hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] is a well-known human carcinogen associated with an increased risk of lung cancer. However, the mechanisms underlying Cr(VI)-induced carcinogenesis remain unclear. MicroRNA-21 (miR-21) is a key regulator of oncogenic processes. Studies have shown that miR-21 exerts its oncogenic activity by targeting the tumor suppressor gene programmed cell death 4 (PDCD4). The pre...
متن کاملLoss of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase induces glycolysis and promotes apoptosis resistance of cancer stem-like cells: an important role in hexavalent chromium-induced carcinogenesis.
Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) compounds are confirmed human carcinogens for lung cancer. Our previous studies has demonstrated that chronic exposure of human bronchial epithelial BEAS-2B cells to low dose of Cr(VI) causes malignant cell transformation. The acquisition of cancer stem cell-like properties is involved in the initiation of cancers. The present study has observed that a small populat...
متن کاملGene 33/Mig6 inhibits hexavalent chromium-induced DNA damage and cell transformation in human lung epithelial cells
Hexavalent Chromium [Cr(VI)] compounds are human lung carcinogens and environmental/occupational hazards. The molecular mechanisms of Cr(VI) carcinogenesis appear to be complex and are poorly defined. In this study, we investigated the potential role of Gene 33 (ERRFI1, Mig6), a multifunctional adaptor protein, in Cr(VI)-mediated lung carcinogenesis. We show that the level of Gene 33 protein is...
متن کاملObservation of Stacking Fault Tetrahedral in TWIP Steel
Low stacking fault energy face centered cubic (FCC) materials contain characteristic defect structures. Stacking fault tetrahedral are one of those rare structures that occur under special experimental conditions. For the first time, stacking fault tetrahedral were observed in Fe-30Mn-3Al-3Si twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) steel. Their presence resulted from a quenching heat treatment.
